Rio Verde

RIO VERDE, is a master planned, age-restricted community" or "adult community," which means one member of each household must be at least 55 years of age and no person under 19 can be a permanent resident of the community. Rio Verde is located northeast of Scottsdale, with easy access to Phoenix and surrounding communities, and is approximately 45 minutes from Phoenix’s Sky Harbor International Airport. Rio Verde is a hiker’s paradise, located in close proximity to the 3-million-acre Tonto National Forest, the 21,000-acre McDowell Mountain Regional Park, and the Yavapai Nation Indian Reservation. Rio Verde has its own trailhead leading into the McDowell Mountain Regional Park, which is open to hikers, mountain bikers, and horse-back riders. The Tonto National Forest extends from Rio Verde to northern Arizona and is a wilderness with rugged, unmarked trails and wild horses.

It’s easy to go to the many outdoor art shows, festivals, wine-tasting events, and other activities offered by the nearby communities of Carefree, Cave Creek, Fountain Hills, Scottsdale, & Phoenix. Rio Verde residents also enjoy the Major League Baseball spring-training games, the annual internationally held events in Scottsdale, such as the Classic Car Shows and Auto Auctions, Arabian Horse Show, and the PGA Golf Tournament. Some of the best shopping is at the Scottsdale Quarter, Kierland Commons, Gainey Ranch, Scottsdale Fashion Square, with many shops and boutiques, and unlimited restaurants along with fine shops in Fountain Hills, Carefree & Cave Creek.

Rio Verde is the home of the private Rio Verde Country Club & two 18-hole championship courses. The club house has two restaurants, a banquet facility, and a pro shop. The Rio Verde Community Center has a library, exercise facilities, card rooms, an art studio, a dance studio, and much more. Rio Verde's location provides a gateway to hiking, biking, horseback riding, and other sport/outdoor activities.

Tennis games are played on Rio Verde’s 6 Nova’ProBounce courts, 2 of which are lighted. You can play casual games or joint the tennis club and play in leagues, on traveling teams, and in rated tournaments. The Tennis Pro Shop has everything needed for active and stylish games. The shop offers racquet stringing, demo racquets, and ball-machine rentals, as well as the latest, most fashionable tennis outfits. The resident tennis pro helps players of all levels develop their game during clinics and private lessons.

Rio Verde’s resort-style heated pool and spa are beautifully landscaped with a waterfall and colorful flora. This desert oasis offers the enjoyment of lap lanes, a free-swim area, water-aerobics classes, twilight volleyball, and plenty of deck space to soak up the abundant sun of the Sonoran Desert.
